Volunteers from several Panama City Kiwanis Clubs will be collecting donations of children’s diapers outside several of Panama’s Panama City Riba Smiths, El Reys, and Super 99s in Panama City on Saturday, April 25th from 9am-4pm to donate to the Hospital del Niño. Volunteers will have carts outside of the supermarkets to collect new, unopened packages of diapers that shoppers can donate after shopping in the stores.
Hospital del Niño is the public hospital in Panama that serves many of the country’s poor children. While they do have a budget for diapers, it is not enough to cover all of their needs, especially at their clinic, where if they have the supplies, they like to give the mothers a bag of diapers to take home with them. Many of these mothers cannot afford diapers otherwise. The hospital and clinic need a supply of 20,000 donated diapers a month to meet their current need. This diaper drive, which is held annually to celebrate Kiwanis Day, helps to go a long way to meet this need.
Diapers will be collected outside of the following stores:
I will be at Riba Smith’s Transmistica location all day doing collection at that location. I hope to see some of you there. If you were planning to do your grocery shopping in the city this weekend, Saturday would be a great time to do it and pick up a package of diapers while you there to support a great cause.
